Why is it important for us to be able to do what we want, feel what we want, say what we want. One simple pragmatic reason would be all of us have a very limited time available to us after all YOU ONLY LIVE ONCE. Since the prospect of the death has been effectively blocked out by the brain, to function efficiently on daily basis, it isn’t quite relate-able for all of us. However in the context of our socio-economic such as a small town or an organization, we can endeavour to understand it. When the majority of people in such a setup avoid being themselves, it prevents the constant influx of the enthusiasm, ideas, energy,friction (which is essential to making us rounder personalities) etc. The moment this begins to happen this setup begins to die, decay, create malfunctioning products and services.
Just like the concept of death it might be hard for some of us to grasp the true importance of ideals such as daily Enthusiasm, Thinking ideas, Energy flow, Deep Observation, Friction, Rounder personalities may seem as vague and a little far-fetched for practicality. Perhaps we will find them more relate able when they can be described as in parallel concepts that we have so intelligently developed, Enthusiasm can be easily substituted for hard work, time keeping etc. Thinking Ideas can take any form from Business Process Re-engineering, to Lean Management, minimum viable product (MVPs). Energy Flow can be called information processing. Deep observation can be Business Analytics, Friction is what we call Mastermind Groups or Board Meetings, Hackathons, Rounder personalities is what we call Teamwork. In creating of these new sensibilities for us, we have created a divide between what essentially human nature is what our work is meant to be, what our life is and what we are living for. Humans have always operated on the same fuel, in our creation of Laws, Social Conventions, Political Ideologies we have ripped the very fabric we were mean to protect.
Why is it essential for all of us to say what what we want, feel what we want, be what we want, because in doing so we create organisations, institutions that last much longer, create products & design services that outlast many lifetime, never get outdated, we create stuff that is permanent but also the one with change. In this synchronicity of life force flowing through all of us, in all of what we do we create wonderful stuff. Organisations that are not good at it die, towns desert, souls decay.
