jesus and the cheesecake

Life does not work equally or impressively for all.

It didn’t work perfectly for Muhammad or even Jesus.

It didn’t work for Buddha.

It won’t work for you either.

Imagine—it’s one of the nicest places to eat.

You love its burnt Basque cheesecake to death.

Yet, right next to it lies the original cheesecake—

The one you will never buy,

For no reason at all.

And that’s the case with humans as well.

For reasons unknown,

Not everyone will like you either.

Is it just the contrast of taste?

The color? The flavor?

You don’t know.

You’ve never purchased it.

You never will.

And yet, both sit there,

In the same restaurant, on the same aisle, on the same display.

For reasons unknown,

You just don’t like the second cheesecake.

Not universally. Not always.

Not in proportion to your talents, appearance, or sensibilities.

Life goes on,

In its own ways,

For reasons we can’t decode.

Life does not work equally or impressively for all,

it didn’t even work perfectly for Muhammad or Jesus itself,

It worked not for Buddha,

it will not work for you either,

It can be the best restaurant in the world,

You may love its burnt cheesecake to death,

Right next to lies its original Cheesecake,

The one that you hate with your guts,

For no reason at all,

Is it just the contrast of taste?

Is it the colour or flavour? You know it not!

You have never purchased it. You never will.

After all both happen to lie, in the same restaurant, in the same aisle, on the same display,

For some reason you just don’t like the second cheesecake at all,

For the reasons you may not be aware off at all.

So you will not be liked either Ahmed,

Universally by everyone and always,

Not even proportionately, or disproportionately

To your talents, semblance, or sensibilities,

In its own mysterious ways of life itself,

Life continues,

for reasons we can’t decode
