For poor people who don’t have much money in life, or resources to satisfy their desires, or people who are not super creatives—Picasso’s, Leonardo da Vinci’s, or Christopher Nolan’s, etc.—or people who just want some peace in their lives without becoming Buddha, or people who just go to average jobs—not world-changing organizations—or participate in elite athletics, how can they have peace in their life?
They can start by leveraging simple things in life, first by investigating and making notes on what they have done for peace and still haven’t found it. Why is doing the same things over and over again leading them nowhere? This self-examination can help them gain visibility into their process. Once they have mulled it over, they can use online resources from elite organizations and individuals such as Kapil Gupta and Krishnamurti. There are plenty of free videos available online.
The most important thing for them, as they are poor, average, or mediocre people, is to prioritize and identify high-pain areas in their lives. Their investigation must acutely focus on these high-pain problems, ideally one at a time—they cannot fix everything at once. Once they understand the problem, they must not try to fix it immediately but instead let their mind learn from it in a relaxed state. With time, the answer might appear.
Some of the questions they need to answer are the “why” and “when” questions: When does the pain appear? Why does the pain appear? When does the shame appear? Why does the shame appear? When does the anger appear? Why does the anger appear? They must answer these honestly.
If, after answering these, their problems still aren’t resolved, they should go further such as why the solutions they have worked out in the previous steps, why they are not working on it, why the insights that they have gleaned are not changing them? What’s the reason? What’s the fear (they must name it clearly)? And once having done so, they must take a break and let their intuition guide them. If they still haven’t arrived somewhere peaceful within themselves they must ask themselves, Why does it matter? Where do they feel the blockages in their body, why does it matter, can they stay with these blockages in their body, can they stay with these uncomfortable feelings in their body? etc.
If this still doesn’t resolve the issues, they need to go even deeper: Why aren’t they doing things still? Why are they in such a limbo? Why is there fear again? The process becomes an ongoing investigation, much like a machine learning model that keeps learning and improving. By following this method or process, they can start to fix themselves and find solutions creatively.
Through this investigative approach, they may not need help from expensive gurus, mental health professionals, psychologists, sports psychologists, ancient scrolls worth millions, costly retreats, drugs, or even expensive distractions. These techniques have proven time and time again to be quite effective. It might help to practice this process with another questioner—a friend, dear one, spouse, a stranger you’ll never meet again, yourself, or even ChatGPT—provided you instruct it to ask questions in a specific direction without bombarding you with recommendations. The goal is not to find quick solutions but to uncover the source of your problems and gain a deep understanding of the fire you are in and the “iron throne” you’ve been sitting on forever.
Once you identify the core issue, you’ll realize that same principles, techniques, and methods, their variations, could be applied indefinitely to learn, achieve, understand, master anything in life, perhaps the same methods, principles, techniques have been employed consciously, or unconsciously by some of the most successful, creative, peaceful people over millennia such as Buddha, Jesus, artists, mathematicians, scientists, modern athletes, geniuses old and new, method actors, business tycoons, and others to solve some of the greatest problems in life. Simple why, when questions, ranking them in their importance order to you, not someone else, and just keep going deeper, till you are left with nothing but the truth.
You cannot force yourself to do so, convince yourself to do so, if it happens for you, it will happen on its first reading, the process will become yours, if you don’t get it the first time, forget it, it’s not for you and it’s ok. Everyone doesn’t deserve to have peace in their lives, neither the ability to acquire so, somehow realising this is also a form of peace in life, and a gateway to creativity.
Definition of Enlightenment:
Enlightenment is the ability to be able to solve all of your problems in life without any external help and then never having them again in your life.
